All Doombombing Aside, Here Is One Legitimate Cause For Worry
No, Virginia, it's not all hysterical freakouts
Doomers are like economists. Lock any four of them in a room, ask them about the most likely doom approaching us, and you will get five answers. Or maybe six. In other words, given the number of candidates, it should not be surprising that, even among those with nominal expertise, there should be disagreements. Not to drag Robert McNamara’s tattered intellectual corpse from its ideological grave once again, but there are the dooms we know about, the dooms we don’t know about, and the dooms we don’t know we don’t know about.
The two great schools of total ruination as it is practiced in America today are doomers, and preppers. In many ways they are simply two sides of the same coin - “Aieee, we’re all gonna die, the S-Done-HTF!” and “Calm down, here’s how you can prepare to survive that.” In certain other important ways, they couldn’t be more different.
Doomers have no hope. After all, doom is doom. There’s no act two after doom, not even in America. On the other hand, preppers are nothing if not hopeful, not just of a second act, but of weathering the storm to reach it, and then thriving. Again, just a single coin, but one group will spend it on a final bottle of scotch, while the other will save and invest it, hoping for a brighter future.
Naturally, being a Gemini, I partake a bit from both sides, but I’m much more prepper than doomer. I may drop a doom bomb or two, but despite historical examples like Cassandra, I don’t expect my warnings to prevent anything, but do hope they might function as a heads-up for those smart and resourceful enough to take actions that could aid in their own survival.
So, with both viewpoints in mind, here is something you could legitimately worry about as dead-broke America tries to navigate its most consequential Fourth Turning in centuries with a dementia-addled stumble-bum front-puppeting for a shadowy crime family pursuing its own interests behind the scenes. The potential downsides are enormous, of course, and some of them are so awful they is no point in worrying about them. Genetically engineered, highly effective mass murder microbes could render all questions of human survival moot. Same for the Sweet Meteor of Death. If that big boy smacks us hard enough, even the microbes might not make it through.
At the other end of the scale are occurrences that are unworthy of your concern, either because they are imaginary, or because they have been hyped by doomers, either amateur or professional, to a danger status far greater than they deserve. Among this class, you can find global coolingwarmingchangingboiling, the threat of TikTok’s tranny armies overrunning your neighborhoods and enslaving your children, Donald J. Trump’s triumphant second reelection, and China’s intention to conquer the US via a vast fleet of sneaky weather balloons.
Global Whatever theories have managed to demonstrate no predictive value whatsoever, and their biggest and loudest proponents, waxing wroth from their private jets and vast, energy-gulping mansions, behave as if there is nothing to worry about. So why should you?
“Trannies,” whether transgenders or transvestites, are a tiny minority of the general population. The only aspect of it we need to be concerned with is those aspects that involve minors. If you buy the hype, that group is huge and growing, although its quite recent appearance seems to be a phenomenon of young, mentally unstable young women on social media platforms primarily aimed at youngsters like TikTok. Based on the number of governmental entities passing laws banning physical gender surgeries on minors, you would think the numbers of such are also high and growing. Let’s take a look:
Results
Demographics and surgical characteristics
Of 522,605 pediatric patients included in NSQIP Pediatric from 2018 to 2021, 108 (0.02%) were TGNB minors who underwent GAS* and were included in our study. Table 2 displays the patient demographics and surgical characteristics of our study population. The mean (SD) age was 16.9 (0.8) years, with the youngest patient being 13.9 years old. The age distribution of our study population is depicted in Figure 1. It is worth noting that only two (1.9%) patients were under the age of 15 (13.9 and 14.5 years).
The most common type of GAS was CMS** (n=102, 94.4%) (Table 2).
*GAS: Gender Affirming Surgery
**CMS: Chest Masculinization Surgery
So, over a four year period, out of well over half a million pediatric (17 and under) entries, only 108 involved gender affirming surgeries, and of those, 102 were girls trying to turn themselves into boys by having their breasts removed. Which tends to buttress the contention that this is a phenomenon of mentally disturbed female children, a group especially vulnerable to the effects of mass, socially driven fantasy. In other words, a fad. But the mass surgery threat? It doesn’t even rise to the level of being statistical noise.
Again, not the end of the world.
The DJT hysteria is, again, a phenomenon associated primarily with arcane forms of mental illness, encompassed by the general label Trump Derangement Syndrome. Those not mentally ill, though they may strongly dislike Trump or his policies, understand him for what he is - a rich politician - and not the Rising of Lucifer or a signal of The End Times. There are those who have good reason to fear him, nor are they crazy to do so. But neither yet another socially-transmitted mental disability, nor the rightful fears of a small, powerful group sensing threats to their iron rice bowls, are sufficient reasons to pull out the stops and start piling up fifty bound bags of rice and beans. So don’t do that, either.
As for China, that will have to be a topic for a longer essay explaining why I regard the current US ruling class and party’s stance of all-out doom-mongering on that issue as being not just overblown, but frenzied to the point of psychosis.
ME: “Why are we so terrified of China?”
TPTB: “They brazenly invaded us with their all-conquering weather balloons!”
I understand. China is an enormously powerful nation, definitely on the rise, and the world is changing because of that. But the whole thing is much more than a matter of US good, China evil, WW III starts tomorrow!
Anyway, between the extremes, here is one thing you might consider concerning, without, in my estimation, being stupid, hallucinatory, paranoid, or evil.
The US economy is a gigantic train wreck tumbling down the tracks in great chunks of destruction, leaving all sorts of financial and human rubble in its wake. Rennaissance man about town Alexander Macris has the most poignant dissection of the proximate cause of its execution here: Running on Empty. He predicted the actual moment of death would occur in 2023 or, at the latest, 2024. That looks spot on to me.
Of course, the Great Economic Crackup has a lot more to it than the death of the Petrodollar, which is merely the stiletto that history, that great assassin of empires, chose as the murder weapon. There is also the century of financial hallucination kicked off by the creation of the banker’s BFF, the Federal Reserve, which institutionalized the lunacy that debt was money, leading finally to such recent breaks with reality as Modern (Magical) Monetary Theory and its Wild Hunt offspring, the dread Trillion Dollar Deficits of Doom.
Toss into this bubbling cauldron of toil and trouble the entire criminal class of thieves and conmen who’ve been gleefully presiding over the “financialization” of the American economy, said term being a sanitized contraction for, “We killed it, gutted it, and wore its carcass as a skin suit while demanding respect. And money. Lots and lots of money.”
Which is where we are today, struggling in an economy mired deep in inescapable bankruptcy, overseen by a coven of vampiric skinwalkers, while suffering repeated death blows from the petrodollar knife created by our own hands.
To my mind, the only real question is whether we succumb to the most violent inflation since the Big Bang, or a deflationary flush that will make the central galactic black hole seem warm and comforting. Considering this is occurring at the confluence of a Fourth Turning and The Singularity, it wouldn’t surprise me to see them occur in tandem, first as an all-devouring inflation that wipes out the American welfare state, then as a crushing deflationary collapse that wipes out the American Ruling Class and its Deep State myrmidons.
The best way to ride out something like this is not to be here when it happens. But given how vast and entangled the American financial system is with the rest of the world, especially the western world, I’m not sure just how foolproof that solution might turn out to be.
If it strikes you as entirely impractical, then you’ll have to make provisions for life in a bankrupt America whose currency is worthless to anybody. That means all the usual prepper tropes, primarily food, water, clothing, shelter, personal/family defense, and so on. And you’ll need something other than the almighty dollar. Gold and silver in tangible and exchangeable form would do - low denomination gold coins, junk silver, American eagles, etc. And if you can get it, some likely stable foreign currency - Swiss francs, even rubles or yuan, anything, at least, not backed up by the “full faith and credit” of the United States, a phrase that will become in the not too distant future a bitter joke.
Fourth Turning gospel preaches that these final turns in the longer cycle always involve a great war as a bookend to a great financial collapse, but that, too, will have to be the subject of a later essay.
Or if you are so inclined, you could…
A lot to think about.
Based just on what I see working cash registers these days, there is definitely an explosion in mental illness and sexual deviancy going on. This is a serious crisis.
China is a National Socialist Superpower that is considerably bigger than greater Germany, Italy, and Japan combined. To China, the United States is empty, just as Europeans considered this continent to be empty centuries ago.
The US had a huge lead in electronic warfare. The transistor was invented here, after all. That lead has shrunk bigly. And we have gutted our once great university system, our meritocratic society, our high trust society, our patriotism, and our unity.
I don't think a stash of gold will suffice. It's doom or go on offense now.
