If Our Rulers Really Don't Care What We The People Think...
Can a democracy, let alone a republic, even exist?
One of the more puzzling things to Americans who are not inhabitants of the more leftish provinces of their nation are the outrageous things politicians, especially national politicians, say and do, words and deeds so far off the wall of reality it seems as if their speakers must be living in a long ago and far away universe utterly divorced from the one the rest of us are familiar with.
Or, to put it in Internet ur-speak, “Who you gonna believe? Us, or your lying eyes and ears?” Every day, from the top of our ruling power structure to the bottom, we are served up heaping helpings of bologna and told it is delicious steak, even as dogs take one sniff and run howling in the opposite direction.
Biden campaign fundraises off of Robert De Niro appearance at Trump's New York hush money trial
In a message Wednesday to Biden supporters signed by De Niro, the 80-year-old actor said, “I still can’t believe Donald Trump got elected president.”
“Thank God Joe Biden defeated him and restored decency, compassion, and honest, intelligent leadership to the presidency,” De Niro said.
To borrow from the late, great Mary McCarthy, every word in that sentence is a lie, including “and,” and “to.” Not only that, these are all obvious lies. De Niro doesn’t thank God, because De Niro is an atheist. Joe Biden did not defeat Donald Trump, but rather benefited from the actions of the shadowy forces that stole the election for him from Trump. Biden’s purported honesty is best exemplified by his extortionary threat to withhold a billion dollars worth of other peoples’ money, said other people being the American taxpayers, one way or another, from Ukraine’s government unless they fired a prosecutor investigating Burisma, which was an integral part of the grease-n-gravy train Biden’s drug addicted pimp son and consigliere was running in that benighted country. And then he bragged on national television about what he’d done.
Our rulers do not care what you think.
My new pistol - or at least I hope it will be my new pistol shortly - arrived at my local Rural King today, and I went to pick it up.
I had to fill out a NICS form, of course. NICS stands for - I think - National Instant Criminal Background Check System. Maybe somebody decided that NICBCS didn't have that ring to it. Nick Because? I don't see much fodder for dirt in the correct acronym, but who knows?
Anyway, after standing around for an hour, the form came back marked "Delayed," for "Research."
I was told the store would call me when they got some sort of result.
I've never had that happen before, and I've bought more than a few guns over the years. Naturally, I do what I always do with the unfamiliar. I research it. Turns out that about 10% of all NICS transactions are delayed. Of these, 80% are "resolved" within the initial three business day delay period, and of these, about 55% result in denials. In other words, the odds are slightly in favor of my NICS search resulting in a denial.
I then researched the legal reasons for denial. I match none of them. I will, of course, follow every avenue of appeal available to me if my purchase is denied, but it's the government, which means it's probably a crapshoot.
I suspect, although I can't prove, that a large percentage of denials are based on faulty information or records - my name being confused with somebody else who does have a legal impediment to purchasing a firearm, although given how uncommon my last name is, I'd be dubious. We are talking database searches, however. Government database searches. Of databases created and maintained by government employees.
This would be the same class - government bureaucrats - responsible for taking two months to untangle a gigantic freighter from a bridge in Maryland, allowing one of the largest ports in America to finally reopen. Responsible for the wonderful service you receive at Departments of Motor Vehicles in every state in the Union. Responsible for spending a third of a billion dollars on a dock in Israel that sank after less than a week of operation, leaving several ships trying to use it aground. So I'm sure I can look forward to equal accuracy, speed, and efficiency in the handling of my own matter.
You should further be aware that the handling of almost everything relating to private citizens and firearms rests in the hands of two vast bureaucracies that make up two of the most beloved federal agencies in existence: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and their "sister" agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Given such a stellar group of people, how could I expect anything other than the rapid approval of my desire to purchase a firearm, as the Second Amendment claims I have a right to do "without infringement." Well, either that, or being burned alive or shot in the head ten seconds after some bureau SWAT team hits my front door.
BTW, in case you should ask, I am not, repeat not, suicidal. But I am pissed off, a state bureaucracies tend to arouse in me. Can't imagine why, right?
Our rulers and their soul-sucking bureaucracies do not care what you think. And why should they? Apparently a great many of you do not care what they do. President Trump - and I’m not even going to use the adjective “former,” because he was legally elected to his second term in 2020, and has been our legal president for the past eight years, and remains so today - was just today (May 30, 2024 - mark it well, because it represents a watershed in the American Collapse we are currently embarked upon) convicted of all thirty-four laughable charges conjured up out of nothing by a hard core Soros-owned lawfare hit team in New York City, in a display of naked judicial corruption unrivaled in all of American history. They don’t care what you think about it, either. Why should they? They don’t lead us, they rule us.
How on earth did we come to this point? As with most great crimes, the roots of our current predicament are tangled, but I contend that the hanging tree which grew from them showed its first green sprouts in the immediate aftermath of the worst attack on Americans in history, the assault on the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001.
First, members of the bin Laden family, relatives of the man ultimately responsible for the atrocities committed in the name of Allah by his gang of religious terrorists, were allowed to ignore the national no-fly rules then in effect and return home to Saudi Arabia.
Second, before the fires had even stopped burning deep in the rubble of the World Trade Center, George W. Bush addressed Congress and said two important things:
The enemy of America is not our many Muslim friends; it is not our many Arab friends.
And…
Today, dozens of federal departments and agencies, as well as state and local governments, have responsibilities affecting homeland security. These efforts must be coordinated at the highest level. So tonight I announce the creation of a Cabinet-level position reporting directly to me -- the Office of Homeland Security.
The first is not technically entirely a lie, but it deliberately downplays, indeed ignores, the truth that our enemies on 9/11 were both Muslim and Arab (Saudi Arabian, specifically), and that Muslims and Arabs remain our enemies across much of the globe today. If you don’t understand, ask the legions of Hamas and its allies abroad, or its supporters here in America today. They’ll explain it to you, if you can get them to stop wreaking havoc long enough to do so.
The second marked the formal beginnings of what I call the Deep Intelligence State, along with the laughably named, and acronymed Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism (USA PATRIOT) Act of 2001
I’ll bet some unnamed staffer spent quite a few sweaty and sleepless nights before coming up with that one.
Nominally, the Patriot Act was “allowed” to expire in 2019, but the various agencies, laws, regulations, bureaucracies, sub rosa allegiances, connections, and personal alliances that were created and flourished under its vast political and governmental umbrella still exist today, stronger and more malignant to liberty than ever before.
It was at that watershed moment America ceased to be a free nation, and became a security state. In such states, naturally enough, agencies and agents of security will become predominant, and they will keep us safe even it they have to destroy every one of our freedoms, including our rights to life and liberty (cf. President Donald J. Trump, among many others) themselves. Since that time the Deep Intel State has systematically managed to raise “security” to the status of being the single most important goal of the U.S government, and all governments subsidiary to it. Security trumps all, including Trump himself. And in the process, (remember, they can spy on anybody they wish) they have gathered enough extortion and blackmail material, as did one of their icons, J. Edgar Hoover, well before they started making it a standard practice, on those who only think they rule this nation, to guarantee that their aims will never be challenged or thwarted.
This is not just a case of burning the village in order to save it. It is deliberately setting the village alight, then rushing in to save it by pouring gasoline on the fires.
And what of the villagers, the average Americans, themselves?
Dumb and dumber, ignorant and frightened, huddling together and waiting for somebody to save them, all the while trying to ignore, lest the cognitive dissonance break what little rationality their minds still possess, the dark tides of chaos rising all around them.
Here’s an example, from a couple of days ago.
Heartlanders Weigh in on Trump Conviction - Liberty Nation News
Heartlanders took a beat Thursday, May 30, 2024, a little past five o’clock, and listened to the announcement that former President Donald Trump had been convicted of 34 felony counts in a New York courtroom. Most reactions were of astonishment that something so un-American could take place in the land of the free.
You would have to be deaf as Hunter Biden ignoring the pleas of whatever hooker he happened to be abusing, blind as Diaper Joe Biden trying to find his way unaided off a podium, and dumb as a box of Nancy Pelosi’s wet hair to be astonished at the outcome of the Kangaroo Konvention that took place in Judge Juan “Hanging” Merchan’s courtroom over the past several weeks, and even more handicapped to be shocked when this same Judge puts President Trump in jail for a pack of nonexistent crimes, as he almost undoubtedly will do.
Our current rulers, who were created and empowered by our previous set of rulers, really don’t care what they we think, because they have effectively neutered our thoughts and opinions from having any weight or influence in the real world at all. They don’t care because they don’t have to care.
There are those — the “just you wait” — group, who say that our tormenters, busily eating out our substance, will be forced to care at some point. That may well be true, but if so, those doing the forcing won’t be we the people. We the people squandered the necessary gravitas, stamina, and just plain guts necessary for that long ago.
So no, under our current state of affairs, neither a democracy nor a republic can exist. Instead, we have a soft state totalitarianism that, unfortunately, could turn hard on a moment’s notice.
Proceed accordingly.
I wish I could disagree with this.
Great essay. I concur completely - American "democracy" is no longer in existence, and we need to make that known.
In his book Guerilla Warfare, Che Guevara saw the people's false belief in a functioning democracy and false belief that their grievances could be addressed through democratic means as major obstacles to them taking any meaningful action.
