The finance world makes my brain hurt as well and I have a theoretical physics degree. Lot's of weird conventions left over from when lending at interest was illegal.
And then there are those Supply/Demand diagrams. They would make more sense if price was the x axis.
Erratum: when investors sell long term bonds it increases their yield. Low price == high yield.
